Fuzzy Events

I often mark my calendar with shows, events or movies I want to see in NY at some point before they end (check out Thom Sokoloski, “The Encampment” or Jane Jacobs and the Future of New York). Every time I do so, however, I have to pick a specific date in the future when I’ll see the show, even though I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it. Since the event is on for many weeks or months, when that pre-planned date comes to pass and I cannot make it I move it to some date farther out.

I wish the calendar guys (iCal, Palm, Google, 30 boxes) would add a “fuzzy events” feature to my calendar app. When I can put in my calendar an event I want to go to at some point in the next few weeks, I’ll be much less likely to forget about it, and I’ll also be able to refer to it the next time I’m looking for something fun to do on the weekend. It’s also a very natural social app; my friends would find out about the events I’m interested in, and perhaps suggest going at some convenient date for both of us.
