Clinton, Obama, Insurance (via Paul Krugman)
Paul Krugman’s column in today’s NYT paints an ugly picture of my candidate, perhaps mostly because it puts a doubt in my head about Obama’s ability to think ahead and negotiate complex political issues (exactly why I would vote for hillary).
Who knows if Krugman actually has a point about health care proposals. He doesn’t link to the study at the heart of his argument, and even if I knew everything about health care and its politics, I’m not sure its reasonable to predict legislative outcomes a year in advance. Look at all the hedge funds et al. making risky bets in this space.
My skeptical side knows perfectly well that our government is unlikely to produce a first-world health care system in the next four years, overcoming decades of entrenched corporate interests.
Paul Krugman predicting that Hillary has a chance to do so while Obama has none is just a way of setting up a President Obama for an “I told you so” when the inevitably compromised legislation makes its way through Congress.
